Questions 'cause of US license

1. Are the official subs good?
At least imho it also happened, that official/commercial subs didn't seem to be as good as some fansubs.

2. Don't know about US law, but would it be legal to release the subtitle/script/.ass files only?
In my country, I guess, I'd would be completely legal to release scripts (with a translation in it and without video/audio), at least when one created it by himself (sharing scripts, which someone else created, would violate the copyright of the original creator, and don't know about dub scripts (ie. only writing down, what charaters say (no translation/altering of the dialogues), 'cause that may also violate copyright)).

Well, Sentai is good. The quality is good as well.

I never directly release scripts.

So good, just take a look at how they translated this part (Sentai on the left, CA on the right):

This part was quite easy to figure out because even people like me without almost any Japanese knowledge knows what "teki" and "mikata" mean; of course Sentai's translators are a different matter...

Which episode was that from and at what time? It's been a long time since I watched it.

Hopefully they screwed just a line, like I said it's not like I know Japanese so I can't say for sure if they haven't screwed up other lines as well...
However their DVDs are approximative in more than a way, the subs don't have 16:9 correction, they are way too wide as you can see from the screenshot, it's something that ADV already used to do or at least their Konomini DVDs were like this as well; also the audio track is flagged as "English" rather than "Japanese" for whatever reason.
